As the government makes cuts to tackle the country's record deficit, local government is working hard to boost local economies in the face of struggling businesses and unemployment. Funds for regeneration projects are few and far between but economic development is more crucial than ever. This award highlights the innovative work that councils are doing, often in partnership with the private and voluntary sectors, to support local business, stimulate enterprise and new jobs markets and improve prosperity.
